St. Croix Transportation
Because St. Croix is farther away from the other cluster of U.S. and British Virign Islands, air transport is by far the most popular route on and off the island. Some cruise ships do make port in St. Croix; however, it is far less popular than St. Thomas for the cruise ship industry. There is also a seasonal ferry that plys the route between St. Thomas and St. Croix.
The most popular way to travel to St. Croix is by seaplane. Seaborne Airlines has flights throughout the day between St. Thomas and St. Croix. Flying to St. Croix from outside the Virgin Islands will land you at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, however most flights will connect through Puerto Rico or St. Thomas.
Because St. Croix is much larger than the other Virgin Islands, the main method of transportation around the island is by car or taxi. Judi of Croix is a local car rental agency offeering budget rentals with friendly personal service. There is also a bus service that runs between Christiansted and Frederiksted.
